COMET is an advanced AMI software for remote reading, parameterization and management of electronic meters, data concentrators and communication modules. AMM functions can be executed automatically, by pre-scheduling, or on operator’s request, and supports configurable user and administrator roles. COMET supports third-party meters and uses web service interface, DLMS/COSEM and IP protocols. It also provides web service interface to other business applications, such as MDM, Billing, CRM, SAP, GIS and others.

Meeting requirements of meter reading, by providing out of the box connectivity to DLMS meters and devices, and SCADA systems; Handy tool for meter firmware developers or test engineers for development testing Front End processors; Application such as AMR, Parametrization software, SCADA to access DLMS meter data using the widely accepted OPC. EZReader is a simple 'DLMS reader' of values stored in a COSEM/DLMS meter. In the upper pane, it displays the 'objects' hosted by the meter (COSEM instances), each with a logical name (OBIS code), class-id and description. The lower pane shows the values displayed in xml format. The log view shows the raw protocol data sent (green).
DLMS/COSEM Standard
What is DLMS/COSEM?
DLMS or Device Language Message Specification, is the suite of standards developed and maintained by the DLMS User Association and has been adopted by the IEC TC13 WG14 into the IEC 62056 series of standards. COSEM or Companion Specification for Energy Metering, includes a set of specifications that defines the Transport and Application Layers of the DLMS protocol.
The DLMS User Association defines the protocols into a set of four specification documents namely Green Book, Yellow Book, Blue Book and White Book. The Blue book describes the COSEM meter object model and the OBIS object identification system, the Green book describes the Architecture and Protocols, the Yellow book treats all the questions concerning conformance testing, the White book contains the glossary of terms. If a product passes the Conformance Test specified in the Yellow book, then a Certification of DLMS/COSEM compliance is issued by the DLMS UA.
